disney princess v. historical fashions

Snow White

 Pocahontas

 Cinderella

Check out these drawings by Claire Hummel, of the Disney Princesses in period accurate costumes. I feel these drawings are amazing, and really make these characters come to life. I love how Disney kept them pretty accurate to their time period. This makes it just a little more possible that these stories could be true, and that someday a little girl may become a real life princess and meet her prince charming. =) Check out the rest of them here. It includes Jasmine, Aurora, Ariel, and Belle. I can't wait to see if she does the rest and new Disney Princesses of Mulan, Rapunzel, and Tiana.

The other weekend I took a day trip to New Orleans. This was my first time going, and I must say "wow!" it is such an amazing and unique city. All the culture and the buildings are just breath taking. These old buildings are still standing, and look great and kept up well. The people in this city are so unique, there are all kinds of people. It was just so much to soak in at once. I will definitely have to go back again and spend a few more days there just for everything to really sink in.

tiny living

check out these tiny homes! I am about to move, and I thought my apartment was super tiny, but compared to these its quite a luxury of 425 sq.ft. But I think that's my limit, I definitely would not be able to live these extreme tiny homes less than 100 sq.ft. I mean where would all my things fit?

Such a wonderful and heartwarming ad!!! Enjoy.

the noble pig

Yesterday, my brother and I had a lunch at a sandwich place called the noble pig. It was delicious might I add. It is just a small little place on 620. My brother and I ordered, the noble pig (pictured in front) and the knuckle sandwich. They were both delicious! I have to say my favorite was the noble pig. The pulled pork was super soft and moist, like it melted in your mouth, and then there was the bacon that was perfectly crunchy. I definitely recommend a visit if you're ever in town.

Another plus, was on their menu next to Dublin Dr. Pepper they put RIP instead of a price point. Love.

hong kong

Check out this amazing article with pictures about Hong Kong. On how it is perceived, how it has changed, and what the future might old for this wonderful city.
I must say that personally I love this city, I went to high school there and my extended family lives there. The article really does hit a few major points about how the city is always ever changing. Just being away for a few ways, the city changes so much. I have not been back since the Beijing summer Olympics in 2008. And I am really trying to find the time to go back, but it's hard when you're working. When I think about going back I always think about how will this city of evolved? Will I remember where everything is? Or will I get lost and I the stranger to this city where I spent my teenage years?

Update: here is the National Geographic Photo Article.

which one...?

Four beautiful dresses. I cant decided which one to get at the moment. I'm leaning toward the third one because I love the simplicity of the lines as well as the neckline it has. Plus it has really cute button details on the back. Help, which one do you like the best?

my past week...

 glow in the dark golf

 I Love Lucy marathon

 Birthday Part for Sgt. Teddy

So this is a view of my past week. John and I had date night and went to play some indoor mini golf. It was fun, we didn't even have to pay to play. yay! Then later in the week, I went and visited my cousins and we started watching I Love Lucy from episode one! And they loved it. Then, last but not least Abbey wanted to celebrate Sgt. Teddy's birthday. I think he's about 3/4 years old. Personally, I feel she just wanted a reason to have chocolate cake (her favorite). Plus, she will be turning 5 very soon! I can't believe how fast they grow up.

venus

[the little black dot is Venus]

I know this is a bit nerdy, but right now I'm checking out Venus transit the sun live online. A once in a lifetime opportunity. Yes, this is my sciencey teacher side coming out. I am personally not a big astronomy person myself, so this information is from a co-worker of mine. He is knowledgable on pretry much everything science related!

So, this doesn't happen very often as you can tell. The next one will occur in 105 years from today. I'm not sure I will be alive then, but I think this is pretty cool. Especially since, I took a few of my students outside this year to check out Venus in the sky during classtime using a telescope! They personally felt it was a waste of time, but I bet in the future they will look back and think it was a pretty cool thing they did.

Lastly, sorry I have not been very good at this whole blog thing, with teaching it's just been so much. ....And since it is summertime now! I'm hoping to get back on the bandwagon!!!

What are your plans for the summer?

spring wedding

sunset

night time yard games

John and I (check out his stylish mustache)

I hope ya'll had a good weekend! Mine was fantastic and exhausting at the same time. I forgot how exhausting going to a wedding can me. They should allow you to take a 3-day weekend when you attend a wedding. (It should just be a given in my opinion). It was extremely hard to go to work this morning, but it was worth it for such a great weekend that celebrated the love of two people.

derby weekend

roller derby

minor mishap

A few weeks ago, I went for a girls night out to the first roller derby bought of the season. It's pretty intense, and and it's hard to to keep track of what the score is and how many times each person has lapped the pack. It was tons of fun! I will most definitely going to a few more this season hopefully.

How have ya'll been? Sorry I've been so busy with work.

moment 4 life

These two little girls are super adorable. Enjoy on this beautiful Monday!

brooklyn pies

pizza

yummmmm...! So this weekend was super rainy, gloomy, and cold outside (with the exception of Sunday) John and I went to this place called brooklyn pie. (John loves pizza, so I'm always looking for a new pizza place to try out. If you have any suggestions comment below) It wasn't bad in my opinion, I liked it. We shared a pizza, with onion, banana peppers (which was the seller for me), I think sausauge, pineapples, and some other stuff. All I remember were the banana peppers cause I love them.

We also saw underworld: awakening. It was action packed as per any underworld movie. I enjoyed it, but then again I do love the underworld series.
