its finally friday...

YAY!!! It's finally Friday. I can't wait to hang out with this little guy. We will be spending quality time just me and him this weekend. Since, John will be out of town. No matter what crazy thing he does or what kind of mess he makes I can never stay mad at him long.

I hope you guys all have a great weekend as well.

wall space

my living area wall

Ok, so I have been living in my place for over a year now. And it is such a bittersweet thing to see my wall nearly completed. I have worked on this for a long time now, slowly adding and collecting frames to go on my wall. My goal was to mix and match frames and put them into various places. I didn't have a uniform rule, just anything frame that caught my eye.

I'm kind of sad it's almost over because I love frames! But I guess it's now time to work on the bedroom which has nothing on the walls. I'm so tempted to do the same gallery type of wall but that would be a bit much. And now it is time to look for prints to put into my picture frames. (I think that will be even harder to do).

How is your home decorated? Any decoration tips?

austin beer garden brewery

a pint of road trip for me a pint of 100% fun for vernon

prosciutto, mushroom, arugula, truffle oil pizza

And now the 4th place Austin Beer Garden Brewery. This was a surprise visit this past week, especially since we'd already been to hoboken pie earlier this week. My friend Karen called and asked if I wanted to join her and her co-workers for a delicious beer on Wednesday so Vernon and I took this opportunity to also try a pizza. And plus who could say no to a beer.

My brother and I went to old school bar and grill  on 6th street to try out their burgers. I had a sandwich instead, it was quite delicious. My brother said his burger was good as well. The food was good and the service was great as well. Later, on Saturday Duke decided to complete destroy a brand new toy he just got. He tore out all the stuffing and the squeaker was torn to pieces.

Sunday, John invited his family over for bbq dinner so they could check out his new house.

I hope you guys had a great fun, family and friends filled weekend.

a little wednesday pick me up

Here is Ingrid Michelson's single Girls Chase Boys. The video is a parody of Robert Palmer - Simply Irresistible (video here).

The music video is amazing, but the song is just so upbeat and catchy. I've been listening to it on repeat and singing my little heart out in the comfort of my own home where no one else will have to hear me. I am a terrible singer. I am the only one in my family who doesn't sing in public and/or is good at it.

I hope this video makes your Wednesday a little better for the 4 minutes it plays.

    disney villains

Click here to see what disney villains would look like if they were beautiful.

My favorite fairytale is Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. I have read both books Alice's Adventures in Wonderland / Through the Looking Glass and loved them both, though at times they don't make any sense.

So check out the link above for images of villains if they were beautiful.

    Enjoy.

    libraries

    entrance of new york library

I love old libraries and buildings, they have so much character and history within them. All the memories, secrets, and knowledge that they hold.

Here is a great article about librarians, and how they don't fit the "ideal image." Just like everything else in life, everything/everyone comes in different shapes or forms.

    best friends forever

My best friend sent me this video the other day and said "you and me in a few years :)" and all I could do was laugh and wait in anticipation for this time to come! We would be so adorable just like these two ladies, having had lived a life with so many happy memories and most of all being extremely content with the lives we lived.

Megan and I have known each our whole lives, actually before we were even born since our moms were friends while we were still in their womb. We have lived as far as on opposite sides of the world, to being roommates, attending the same school, participating in the same extra curricular activities, to now living in different cities. Now we are both extremely busy with our 'new' adult lives, trying to balance life, work, school, boys  not talking to each other much, but I know that no matter what happens she will always be there for me in a heartbeat.

I look forward to all our great adventures our forever intwined lives will take us!

    Happy Valentine's Day.

    interesting conversations

late night pizza at home slice

Do you go to places and strike up conversations with complete strangers? Well, I don't. But Vernon does. Last night we started our Austin's pizza tour by re-visiting an old favorite of mine Home Slice.  While we were eating Vernon noticed the necklace of the person sitting across from us. This started one of the most interesting conversations about vinyl records, and when cd's came out it was life changing (I wouldn't know about this life changing non-sense as I'm too young). It was super cool because I love vinyl records and I'm always on the look out for some great records to add to my ever growing tiny collection.

This was a great way to end the night, especially because while I was walking to work yesterday morning some random homeless guy started talking to me about how people in the world are so mean. And I didn't know how to say "I have to go to work." I didn't want to be rude, and this guy was already talking about how he had a bad temper.

Anyways, I hope that you guys can strike up a great conversation with a stranger. (Something I need to work on)

    duke

John and I have only had Duke for about three months, but it seems like forever! He is become such an important part of our lives. We adopted him from the animal shelter when he was around three months old. It is crazy to see how fast he is growing! And how much I love him already, and everyday love him even a little bit more, as well as all the worrying.

The photos above are of him growing up in chronological order. The first photo is from the very first night we brought him home.

    what are friends for?

shoyu ramen and spicy miso ramen

A couple weeks ago my friend/coworker and I went to try out this ramen restaurant. It's called daruma ramen. It is off of east 6th street, this doesn't mean east of I-35. We had quite an adventure getting there, since the address said east 6th street, we figured it would be east of I-35 so we parked there, but it was really on the west side of the freeway. It was a fun walk I have to say.

Veronica and I made a New Year's Resolution to go out for a meal at a new restaurant together once a week. Especially since we both love to eat and we never get to see each other at work. We work in different sections of the school and we teach different grade levels, so this forces us to actually spend time together.

    happy birthday

    dinner with vernon

Today is my mom's birthday. so HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!! Thank you for everything you do.

Vernon and I had a late night dinner at Lucy's Fried Chicken. We have been getting dinner a lot lately because we're working on a project at school. (images may be coming later)

Vernon loves pizza! I mean who doesn't? (all the guys closest to me loves pizza! My brother, John, and Vernon). And yesterday it was National Pizza Pie Day and 365 things to do in austin to do released the top ten pizza places list. I have been to three of those places. Vernon's favorite is East Side Pies, so as we go through the pizza places I will be posting his reviews. (he is more opinionated on pizza than me)

Hope you had a Great Monday!

    surprise three-day weekend

    homemade baked puppy treats

    go team USA

john trying to look like dexter

So for my three-day weekend I spent it baking all natural homemade peanut butter bacon puppy treats for my spoiled puppy duke, spending time with my family, watching the winter olympics, and hanging out with John's family Sunday night. We had some great bbq and I may have bought way too much potato salad.

Did you enjoy your weekend? Especially with the nice weather.

    snow day....

The past few weeks in Texas have been crazy, weather wise. We have had three bad weather days so far and two late start days. This has never happened in my life. It will be bad weather outside one day and nice and sunny the next day.

    first bad weather day...
    gueros outdoor venue

morning breakfast with hot chocolate at jos coffee

    a winter dreamland

dolce neve to end the night

On the first bad weather day, there was snow outside. This happens very rarely in Austin. Since there was no school, no schedule, and my love for walking I decided to venture outside, walk out to Jo's Coffee and get myself some hot chocolate and breakfast tacos to read my book outside. You're probably thinking I'm crazy, but Jo's has space heaters above the sitting area so it wasn't bad.
Then for dinner my brother decided to come visit me and we went to this new restaurant on soco called little barrel and brown. Now this is a deceiving looking place, there is no sign right now and it's only open for dinner. So whenever I walk by it during the day I always felt like it was a ghost restaurant since all the tables were set but I'd never seen anyone inside. The food is a bit pricey, but it is definitely scrumptious!
My brother and I ended our snow day with dolce neve on south first street. This is the best gelato place ever! I had to get my weekly fix even though it was so cold outside. That's my face from eating the lemon mint sorbet.

    second bad weather day...

lunch at south congress cafe with friends

The second bad weather day we had in Austin, I wasn't as adventurous as the first since it wasn't snow outside, but there was ice everywhere. It was really bad, there were accidents everywhere so I decided to not venture out. Once the ice started to thaw out and the roads were getting better my two amazing friends and coworkers Hannah and Veronica went out to South Congress Cafe for lunch. It was Hannah's first time!

    third bad weather day.... (today)....

    duke

Today's bad weather I will be hanging out with John and our puppy Duke. I'm quite excited we don't have anything planned for today, which means we will see where the day takes us!

I hope you are enjoying your bad weather days staying warm.

    Hello Again

    Hi guys,

My awesome brother has convinced me to start posting again. It will be a slow and on going process, but to start things off here is an awesome and funny video for this coming Valentine's Day.

Enjoy. I am now off to the grocery store in this freezing cold weather we're having in Austin.
