kitchen inventory
reading lights
DIY/Craft post Number 2.
First things first, I took inventory on my kitchen on what food I have. The reason I did this is because I'm always saying I have nothing to eat when I really do. So I thought by taking an inventory on what I have, then I would finish eating all my food before it expires and all the frozen food as well. I'm crossing my fingers that this works!!
Reading Lights/Wall Lights
Materials:
-shelf brackets
-hanging light cord
-light bulb
-wood stain
-paint (of your color)
-candle wax
-sandpaper
Instructions:
(Disclaimer- I'm sorry I forgot to take pictures of all the steps for this project)
1. If you want you can stain the wood, whatever color you'd like. Make sure to stain it to your liking.
The staining job I did on my pieces of wood turned out horrible, I put too much so some of it pooled around on the sides. In the end it actually turned out really great, and helped with the distressing of the wood.
2. When the stain is dry you take the candle wax and rub it on certain areas of the wood. The best places to rub are on some of the edges and places where you think it will usually distress over time. I usually just randomly rub the wax on.
3. Paint the wood with whatever color you want it to be . Even paint on the wax using however many coats you'd like. (I just did one coat)
4. Once the paint has dried use the sandpaper and sand off all the wax and voila you get an amazing piece of distressed looking wood!!
