OK! Last week was pretty eventful. I celebrated my birthday on Monday, the big 2-7. I had brunch with my family on Sunday at Tacos and Tequila and it was pretty good. I love a good sunday brunch. (I mean who doesn't right?) I love hanging out with my family and to my surprise my brother and John coordinated and bought me pairing gifts!!! As pictured above, Casey bought my a Dressmaker sewing machine. (As you can tell it is pictured from the back because I've never had a sewing machine before). And then John bought me a little starter kit carrier for my birthday to go with the sewing machine. (He also got an me awesome print of downtown Austin).
That Sunday I went to Dallas, because I was going to a training there for a few days. So on Monday, I had dinner with my two friends Severo and Sarah. They took me to Meddlesome Moth, and I had two IPAs. The food was great, the beer was great, and the company was just divine. What more could I ask for on this big day? I would like to thank them for having dinner with me and not knowing it was my birthday until Severo asked. (by the way HAPPY BIRTHDAY SEVERO!!!)
The hotel I stayed at was a few blocks from the convention center where my training was going on, so I walked there everyday I could when it wasn't pouring down rain. I got to take in the wonderful sculptures in front of the convention center as pictured above. The training was great, I learned some great strategies, especially some exciting ones to where students are not allowed to talk.
Upon my return home, it was my little cousin's birthday. So of course I went to go and celebrate with her! The next day she made me a meal out of starbursts! Rolling everything out, and cutting it to just the right size! My little cook! And then John's household has received a new puppy! His roommate adopted a puppy that a friend found on the street and named him "hashtag." Hashtag is so cute, sweet, and calm. I'm so excited to welcome him into the house! I hope he doesn't get sick of Duke's hyper activeness.
Lastly, I couldn't wait to use my new sewing machine. So I went to a friend and they showed me how to use it. My friends don't know how to use any of the "fancy" functions (their words), such as using the stitch pattern discs (I think that's what they're called), and some other things. She showed me how to do basic sewing and I was just itching to make something. So I cut and stitched together the beginning of a quilt and a pillow case!! The next projects will be doing 3 more similar pillowcases to match for the bed, curtains, and maybe a simple dress for my little cousins. Who know where else this great sewing adventure will take me...
